What’s the difference between clinching that modelling job, or losing it?
Getting a modelling job that gets you top clients and pays you well is not difficult if you go about it the right way. Many aspiring models should know that getting a top job goes beyond having a great portfolio.
The modelling industry is awash with wannabe models and competition is stiff. So whether you are a size 6 model or a plus size one, there are a few things you need to take note of when going for auditions or photo shoots.
Going for photo shoots may seem easy to aspiring models but you must ask the right questions if you are in doubt about the expressions they ask you to show. This is a very important point to note.
Such as . . . You have to wear a happy look and you may probably think “Oh that’s not hard. I can wear a nice wide smile that shows my beautiful set of teeth. That may seem fine to you, but you may lose the job simply because you thought you knew what the photographer meant.

Ask the Right Questions Before Your Photo Shoot
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Ask – “Why am I supposed to look happy?
You see, there are many faces of happiness and each one is unique in its own way. For instance if your boyfriend just proposed to you, your happy look will look very different from the happy look you’ll have if you just won the lottery.
And if you just found your long-lost best friend, your happy look will look much different from a happy look of one that just graduated with “flying colours”.
As a Model, Your Shots Must be Believable
So before the photographer takes his shot, quickly ask him what kind of happy look he is asking for. He will most probably give you very valuable information that will decide your success or failure of expression.
You don’t want to make a mistake with your look and blow your chances of getting the modelling job you’ve been yearning for.
The more believable your look is, the more interesting your look will be in the shot. So if you are on a set and being shot for a modelling job, remember, ask your question quickly and firmly, and you will produce the look that’s required of you.
